Columbus, GA – Breast Cancer Research Study
Breast cancer is a type of cancer that forms in the cells of the breast tissue. It can occur in both men and women, but is more common in women. Breast cancer usually begins in the milk-producing glands (lobules) or the ducts that carry milk from the lobules to the nipple. If left untreated, breast cancer can spread to other parts of the body. Common symptoms of breast cancer include a lump or thickening in the breast or armpit, changes in breast size or shape, nipple discharge or tenderness, and changes in the skin of the breast or nipple. Early detection through routine mammograms and other screenings can greatly improve the chances of successful treatment. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
