Be a Medical Hero!
Medical heroes are everyday people who help advance public health and medicine by volunteering to take part in clinical trials. Nothing happens in healthcare without research – no new innovations, no new medications, no new treatment options. Did you know that you receive far better healthcare when you participate in research? Without the restrictions of insurance questions, co-pays, and gatekeeper approval, participating in clinical research affords patients the luxury of high-quality healthcare including more labs and tests, and more procedures. Getting involved in clinical research not only benefits patients, but betters society as a whole.
Healthy volunteers often participate to help future generations in hopes of contributing to medical and pharmaceutical progress. Volunteers with an illness also participate to help others, but with the desire to possibly receive cutting-edge treatments otherwise unavailable outside of a clinical trial. There are also financial benefits, as most studies compensate participants for their time spent advancing medical knowledge.
Not every participant fits every trial. We will clearly outline time commitments, help you arrange appointments around your schedule, and describe step-by-step what you can expect when you join a clinical trial with IACT.

As a volunteer in a clinical trial, you are participating in the development of new medical devices and medicine resulting in better medical treatment for patients everywhere. Other important considerations include:
- New Treatment Options
- Possible Compensation
- No Insurance Needed
- No Cost for Medical Care
- Assist in Advancing Medical Science
Many of our patients that volunteer not only volunteer for their own health but also because they want to know they are making a difference in someone else’s life. No matter what brings you here, we want to make sure you feel like you have someone beside you every step of the way. We take pride in placing our patient’s needs and comfort first. We are here to help our volunteers throughout the process. We provide you with a direct line to your care provider and are available to answer questions at any point in the process.
Greater Gift Initiative
IACT Health has partnered with Greater Gift to honor those patients who volunteer their time during a clinical trial. For every qualifying patient, a vaccine is donated to a child. The vaccine, Pentavalent, combines five different vaccines in a single vial. It covers five diseases: diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib). Over 100,000 vaccines have been donated to date!
